Notes Rarely seen in this country, The Fabulous Stains follows a fictitious punk girl group (featuring Diane Lane and Laura Dern) touring with a washed up Glam band (including singer Fee Waybill of The Tubes) and an up and coming English punk group The Looters - Sex Pistols Paul Cook and Steve Jones, The Clash's Paul Simonon and Ray Winstone. Written by Nancy Dowd (an Oscar winner for Coming Home) and directed by pop producer Lou Adler (The Mamas And Papas), it was shelved and only given a limited arthouse release in 1983. The film was acknowledged by the likes of Bikini Kill as an influence on the Riot Grrl scene. Three Minute Heroes is a BBC Play For Today about five Midlands kids on the dole who play in a 2 Tone band. |
