November 26, 2021 Her Winter Coat 'Her Winter Coat' is our brand new Christmas single and is accompanied by the most breathtaking, cinematic video by Alasdair McLellan. "When I first heard 'Her Winter Coat', I thought it sounded really dreamy, otherworldly and magical. I was keen to shoot the video as a vague continuation of the film 'I've Been Trying To Tell You', and carry on the narrative of three characters from the film, and then also set it in Scotland as that's where that film ends. I've always loved the Western Isles in Scotland and also the ferries that take you from one island to the next. Particularly the ferry from the Isle of Mull to Iona. Iona is such a beautiful mystical island, so I wanted to tell the story of a girl running away from her troubles on the mainland and escape all the way to Iona on a spiritual journey to give herself some time to think. Just like in the song." Alasdair McLellan - 26th November 2021 "I cried the first time I watched the film for 'Her Winter Coat'. It’s been a joy working with Alasdair on 'I've Been Trying To Tell You' and his imagery is so in sync with our music. We've been blessed to have him on the team!" Sarah Cracknell - 26th November 2021 The single is available as a CDEP (via the link in our bio) and two flexi discs and all proceeds go to the Trussell Trust charity who are helping to combat hunger amongst the poor and underprivileged. Alasdair's film for 'Her Winter Coat' is the perfect coda to his 'I've Been Trying To Tell You' film and we're pleased to announce that the BFI are releasing a Blu-Ray edition on December 6th that includes the full length film, 'Her Winter Coat' plus a selection of new/unseen films set to Saint Etienne music and a 30 minute interview with Alasdair and Bob Stanley. November 26, 2021 (Five Photos) Her Winter Coat We're pleased to bring you details of our Christmas single for 2021. It's a brand new song called 'Her Winter Coat' and is accompanied by an incredible new film from Alasdair McLennan that we will preview here later today. Bob Stanley: "We love Christmas, as you probably know, and it feels like it's been a while since our last really Christmassy Christmas record. But I think Pete has done a properly beautiful, icy, frosted, festive job on 'Her Winter Coat'. Alasdair's film for it is the icing on the yule log. I hope you love it as much as I do. We're really looking forward to playing it live!" Pete Wiggs: "To complement 'Her Winter Coat', Sarah and Gus Bousfield have come up with the incredibly catchy 'A Kiss Like This', laden with swirling hibernal synths, and for a touch of Cold War frost we have the brooding melancholy instrumental 'Lillehammer' to complete the package. November 19, 2021 Thankyou Glasgow It's always great to open a tour with a show in Glasgow. We had so much fun playing St Luke's last night and can't wait to be back in this beautiful city. This shot was taken during the premier performance of our new Christmas single 'Her Winter Coat' (available to pre-order from 5pm today) and we were overwhelmed by the response. Thanks to Alasdair McLellan for the captivating visuals and Jane Weaver for playing a beautiful set too. Such a fun night, such a lovely audience. Thankyou Glasgow and see you again soon!!
