Saint Etienne Quotes
Pete: In 1988 there were a load of really great sample based records coming out - De La Soul and Theme From S-Express. We Thought we've got really good records, good sample source, we could do that. (Source: Foxbase Alpha Deluxe/Special Edition)

Bob: We went to a studio in Chiswick in 1988 to make an acid house track. We knew Richard Norris from the Grid, he was working for the Bam Caruso label, he lent us his Roland Bassline which we couldn't operate at all. We spent an entire day trying to getit to make the acid sound. That's not getting reissued anytime soon.(Source: Foxbase Alpha Special Edition)

Saint Etienne Dialogue
Bob: We went into the studio in '88. We tried to do an acid-house record, a cash-in on the craze.

Pete: We could only afford one day's studio time. We did that with Richard Norris [of the Grid]...

Bob: I met him at Bam-Caruso Records. When I was on the dole, I worked a day there, doing the mail order.

Pete: We spent most of the day wiring up a dirty phonecall line. We sampled Bros an English pop group and an electro act, the Imperial Brothers.
