Shampoo - Complete Shampoo

More big news. Cherry Red has announced the release of a Shampoo Box Set (3CD/1DVD) titled Complete Shampoo.

The box includes all three albums including the super rare Absolute Shampoo which was only available in 2000 from the fanclub. The album includes 8 tracks written by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs and has been out of print for years.

The Box also includes as bonus material all six of the Shampoo tracks originally released on Bob and Pete's label Icerink in 1993. Looks like a fairly comprehensive offering from Shampoo and Cherry Red. Out on June 28th.

Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley's Measured Mile label issued its fifth 7 Inch today, Mar 29, 2024. Pictures of the Act 1 / Ivano Fossati release can be found already in the Discography.

Saint Etienne Remix

Iraina Mancini provided details today for ordering the limited edition 12" inch vinyl including Beyond the Wizards Sleeve Rework of "Undo the Blue" and Saint Etienne's Remix of "Sugar High" from Iraina's debut album. Limited to 500 copies. Now on sale through Iraina Mancini's Bandcamp.

Barry Ryan

Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley has overseen a 5 CD Boxset for Barry Ryan via Cherry Red Records to be released on May 24.

The 95-track 5CD clamshell box set contains Barry's five studio albums for Polydor Records, a disc of non LP recordings released by Polydor plus a discs of late 70s tracks for other labels including nine previously unreleased cuts.

Released with the full support of Barry's Estate, the release has been overseen by St. Etienne’s Bob Stanley, a long time fan, who has provided in-depth liner notes.

Saint Etienne Remix

Iraina Mancini will be releasing a 12 Inch record soon which will include the Sugar High Saint Etienne remix which was released last year. Iraina will be announcing details and pre-order dates very soon.

Tiger Bay Turns 30

On February 28, 1994, thirty years ago today, Saint Etienne released their 3rd album Tiger Bay on Heavenly Recordings. It was released on Cassette, CD, and LP in the UK and distributed by Pinnacle. The Saint Etienne Disco is currently tracking 33 unique pressings of this album over multiple formats, countries and years.

Special guests, including season curator, Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley, will take part in a richly illustrated discussion about the distinctive sounds of John Barry.

With a focus on Barry's British years, the panel will explore the significance of his scores for the James Bond franchise and other key titles, consider the changes in British music that influenced his compositions, and reflect on his legacy.

This event is one of multiple events of a John Barry season put together by Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley for BFI Southbank for February and March.

Some of you may recall that Bob compiled a compilation of John Barry tracks in 2022 called The More Things Change Film, TV & Studio Work 1968-1973.

If you have dug deep into the Saint Etienne Disco website you may have even found/read an article on John Barry in the first issue of Bob and Pete's Caff Zine in 1986.

Michael Jayston

Michael Jayston passed away today at the age of 88 after a short illness. Michael collaborated with Saint Etienne by providing narration for the Saint Etienne album Finisterre (2002) and film Finisterre (2005). Our thoughts are with his family.

Discosis

Second issue of Saint Etienne Disco's annual Newsletter is out today and its called 'Discosis'. A DIY cut and paste 22 page digital document put together with input from Saint Etienne Fans and the Saint Etienne Discography. A nice summary of what happened in 2023 and what's in store so far for 2024.

Happy New Year

2024 looks to be another exciting year on the Saint Etienne front. The Tiger Bay album and the Icerink compilation turn 30 this year. The band have mentioned that they are targeting to release new material in the Fall. More info in the second issue of the Saint Etienne Disco newsletter 'Discosis' out later today. Keep your eyes on this website for news as it happens.
